'Saturdays at 7'

Musical concerts and performances have been a tradition around St. Andrew’s United Church for over a century. The performing arts series “Saturdays at 7” was launched in 2013. All concerts take place on Saturday at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary at St. Andrews. At each concert, a free-will offering is taken up at each concert with a suggested donation of $10.00.  Each of the concerts feature local, national, and international talent in a variety of musical genres.

SATURDAYS AT 7 CONCERTS GO HYBRID

The eighth season of Saturdays at 7 at St. Andrew’s concerts will continue in 2020-2021 in spite of COVID-19. Since 2013 Saturdays at 7 has been showcasing local, regional and international talent in a variety of styles from classical to jazz and everything in between. In times of COVID music has become even more important so St. Andrew’s is happy to announce that the series will still be presented but in a hybrid format that follows government and health authority  regulations designed to keep people safe and stop the spread of this disease.

Devon Hansen, St. Andrew’s talented and creative Music Director, who originated the concept for these concerts, has planned a series of eight concerts for the 2020-21 season.

The hybrid format means that concerts will be presented for both in person and virtual attendance. All concerts will be performed live in the St. Andrew’s sanctuary before an audience limited in size according to current government guidelines. In addition, the concert will be available online for those beyond that number or for those who prefer to attend the concert in the comfort and safety of their homes. Each show will be adapted as necessary when regulations change.

Tickets for live and virtual audiences are free and can be booked through the www.showpass.com website. Those who cannot book tickets online can contact the church office at 519-352-0010. A digital ticket will be issued for those who choose to attend in person. A link to the concert will be sent to those who choose to attend online. At the time of booking tax receiptable donations will be gratefully accepted (suggested $15).  All concerts are at 7 pm.

The series will include a wide variety of great music for everyone’s entertainment. Some programs will feature local musicians. Other concerts will be presented by performers from across the province, including the Sultans of Strings, three-time JUNO award nominees from Toronto, the Ottawa Guitar Trio, the Steel City Rovers from Hamilton and favourites Sonja Gustafson and Denise Pelley from London. The first concert on September 19, Water Colours, will feature local performing and visual artists. This promises to be a fabulous season of enjoyable music.
